Our class is currently participating
in the Flat Stanley Project. Each student created their own Stanley and
we mailed them across the U.S. to various families. Our hope is to
learn all about the different states in which Stanley is visiting.
Along with our Stanley we mailed the following letter.

Hi. My name is Flat Stanley. I live
in Centennial, Colorade at .... School. My friends in Mrs.
Hughes's third grade class just finished reading a story about me
called Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown. The story tells all about
the time I was crushed by a falling bulletin board. I have enjoyed may
adventures since I became flat. Mrs. Hughes's class and other third
grade classes thought it would be fun to send me around the world and
learn about all of the different places I visit!
Please send a letter, postcard, pictures, or anything else
you can back to my friends at ............ to help them learn about
where I am visiting. Be as
creative as you can.
When I have had a chance to see the
sights and visit with you, please send me on to someone else that you
know will be a good host for me to visit. Please make sure I don't get
lost in the mail. I am hoping to travel all over the United States and
even to other countries.
If I am visiting you and it is
October 15 or later, please send me back to my friends at STM so I
can enjoy the project with my classmates. Again, thank you so
much for taking such good care of me and taking the time to share our
adventures with all of my friends in our class.
Sincerely,
Flat
Stanley

Dear
Family,
We recently
finished reading the book Flat Stanley by Jeff
Brown. In the
story, Stanley,
the main character, is flattened by a bulletin board that falls on top
of him
while he is sleeping. Luckily, he isn't hurt, just flattened. Later in
the story,
Flat Stanley wanted to visit some friends in California,
so his parents folded him up, put him in an envelope and mailed him to California.
After a nice
visit, his friends sent him back to his family.
We have created
our own Flat Stanleys for a special project and we need
your
help! Please fold and mail Flat Stanley, along with the attached
letter, to a
friend or relative that lives some distance away fromschool. Please
choose a
friend or relative who would be a good host by showing Flat Stanley
around
their town or city and taking Flat Stanley to local areas of interest.
After
his visit, your friend or relative will need to send Flat Stanley back
to us
and tell us about his visit. We would like to have all of the Flat
Stanleys
returned to school by Oct.25
We are looking forward to learning about all
of the places that our
Flat
Stanleys travel!
Thank you in
advance,
Mrs. Hughes
